Gmail labs जीमेल लॅब्ज - माझे आवडते फीचर्स !

कोणीही गूगल काकांप्रमाणे विचार नाही करु शकत. मी पैजेवर सांगतो की कुणीच गूगल काकांची बरोबरी नाही करु शकत.

आपण गेल्या कित्येक वर्षांपासुन इ- मेल वापरतोय. आणि इतके दिवस आपण विचार करत होतो की जी इ-मेल सर्वीस आपण वापरतोय ती एक्दुम भन्नाट आहे (?).मित्रहो जरा इथे पहा. Gmail Labs जीमेल लॅब्ज चे हे काही नविन फीचर्स. पाहील्यावर तुम्ही लगेच म्हणाल,"हे तर मला खुप गरजेचे होते, इतके दिवस कोणी कसे दीले नाही हे फीचर!"हीच तर कमाल आहे गूगल काकांची.

1. Forgotten Attachment Detector (अ‍ॅटेचमेंट विसरलात , जीमेल आठवण करुन देइल)-

घाई घाईत बर्‍याच वेळा अ‍ॅटेचमेंट जोडायची राहुन जाते आणि आपण मेल पाठवुन देतो.चिंता नको. गूगल काकांनी उपाय शोधलाय. Gmail > settings > Labs मध्ये जा आणि Forgotten attachment detector ला चित्रात दाखवल्याप्रमाणे चालु (Enable) करा. आता यापुढे मेल मध्ये अ‍ॅटेचमेंटचा उल्लेख असला (अर्थात इंग्लिशमध्ये !) आणि तुम्ही ती जोडायची विसरलात तर गूगल काका स्वतः आठवण करुन देतील.

2. Email addict - (इमेलचं व्यसन जडलय ?)

त्या सर्वांसाठी जे आपला बराचसा वेळ मेल वाचण्यात किंवा मेल लिहीण्यात घालवतात (माझ्यासारखे काही उद्योगी लोक !) हे एक उपयुक्त फीचर. आता तुमची आई नव्हे तर चक्क गूगल काका आठवण करुन देतील की, " बाबारे आता पुरे, जरा आराम करा (Take a break)". फक्त Gmail > settings > Labs मध्ये जाउन Email addict ला चित्रात दाखवल्याप्रमाणे चालु (Enable) करा. गूगल किती वेळाने आणि किती वेळा तुम्हाला आठवण करेल हे तुम्ही एकदाच सेट करु शकता.

3. Undo send (पाठवलेली मेल थांबवा)

बर्‍याच वेळा आपण मेल पाठवण्यासाठी Send बटण दाबतो आणि नेमके तेव्हाच आठवतं अरेरे काही राहुन गेले. आता असे हळहळण्याची आवश्यकता नाही. gmail > settings > Labs मध्ये जाउन Undo Send हे फीचर (Enable) चालु करा. त्यानंतर मेल पाठवल्यानंतर ५ सेकंदांपर्यंत वाट पाहेल, तुम्ही पुन्हा थांबवण्याची!

खरेच या सर्व भन्नट कल्पना ज्यांच्या डोक्यातुन निघाल्या असतील त्या सर्व गूगल कर्मचार्‍यांना सलाम !

How to change blogger template?

हॅलो ब्लॉगरफ्रेंड्स,
आज या लेखापासुन मी ब्लॉगरबद्दल सवीस्तर माहीती देणार्‍या लेखमालिकेची सुरुवात करीत आहे. ब्लॉगर्सना उपयुक्त ठरेल अशी ब्लॉग (Blogger/blogspot) बद्दल सर्व माहीती वाचकांना या लेखमालीकेद्वारे पुरवीण्याचा माझा मानस आहे. "ब्लॉगची टेम्प्लेट कशी बदलावी?" या पासुन मी लेखमालीकेला सुरुवात करीत आहे.


ब्लॉग टेम्प्लेट म्हणजे काय?

ब्लॉग किंवा वेब साईट एका ठरावीक साच्यामध्ये मांडलेली असते. ब्लॉगमध्ये लेख कोठे असणार, विषयसुची, जाहीराती, नावे, परीशीष्टे इत्यादी वेबसाइटवर कोठे आणि कसे दीसणार याची मांडणी टेम्प्लेटमध्ये केलेली असते. अगदी फाँट्सचा रंग आणि आकार देखील टेम्प्लेटमध्ये ठरवलेला असतो.
ब्लॉगर्.कॉम आपल्याला काही टेम्प्लेट्स पुरवीते. या टेम्प्लेट्सना क्लासीक टेम्प्लेट्स असेही म्हंटले जाते. क्लासीक टेम्प्लेट वापरणे बर्‍याच ब्लॉगर्सना आवडत नाही. याचे एकमेव कारण म्हणजे क्लासीक टेम्प्लेट्समुळे ब्लॉगचे स्वतंत्र अस्तीत्व निर्माण होत नाही. आणि आपला ब्लॉग इतर अनेक ब्लॉगपैकी एक बनुन जातो.


पण जर कोणाला क्लासीक टेम्प्लेटपैकीच एखादी टेम्प्लेट आवडली असेल तर ती टेम्प्लेट कशी वापरावी ते आपण पाहुया -

1. ब्लॉगर्.कॉम मध्ये लॉग्-इन करा.

2. तेथे Layout चा ऑप्शन दीसेल. त्यावर क्लिक करा.

3. ले-आउट मध्ये पुढीलप्रमाणे चार पर्याय दीसतील - Page Elements , Fonts and Colors, Edit HTML and
choose new template

4. त्यापैकी "Choose new template" वर क्लिक करा.

5. इथे तुम्हाला क्लासीक टेम्प्लेट्स चे सर्व उपलब्ध पर्याय दीसतील.

6. त्यापैकी तुमचा आवडता पर्याय निवडा आणि "Save template" चे बटण दाबुन नविन टेम्प्लेट सुरक्षीत करा.

7. आता तुम्ही नवीन टेम्प्लेटने सुसज्ज ब्लॉग पाहु शकता.

आता आपण ब्लॉगर टेम्प्लेट्स बद्दल चा महत्त्वाचा आणि रंजक भाग पाहुया. नविन टेम्प्लेट बाहेरुन आणुन (इंटरनेटवरुन) आपल्या ब्लॉगवर कशी जोडावी ते पाहुया. पण त्याआधी ब्लॉगर टेम्प्लेट्सबद्दल काही अधीक माहीती जाणुन घेउया.


नविन ब्लॉगर टेम्प्लेटची काय आवश्यकता? -

याचे उत्तर सोपे आहे. आपला ब्लॉग वेगळा आणि सर्वात उठुन दिसावा यासाठी तसेच काही प्रगत सुविधांचा वापर करता यावा यासाठी नविन ब्लॉगर टेम्प्लेटची आवश्यकता भासते.


ब्लॉगरच्या टेम्प्लेटचे विविध प्रकार कोणते?-

ब्लॉगर टेम्प्लेटचे बरेच प्रकार आहेत. साधारणपणे ब्लॉगचा रंग, स्तंभ (Colomns) , आकार आणि रचना यावरुन ब्लॉग टेम्प्लेट्सचे प्रकार ठरवले जातात. माझ्या मते कॉलम्स (colomns - स्तंभ) ची संख्या हा ब्लॉग टेम्प्लेट्स निवडण्यासाठी सर्वात महत्वाचा मुद्दा आहे.


ब्लॉगरच्या टेम्प्लेट्स कोठे मिळवता येतील?

मोफत ब्लॉगर टेम्प्लेट्स उपल्ब्ध करुन देणार्‍या हजारो वेब साइट्स इंटरनेटवर उपल्ब्ध आहेत. गुगलसर्च केल्यास त्यांची यादीच समोर येइल. वाचकांसाठी मी पहील्या पाच साईट्सची (माझ्यामते) नावे सुचवीत आहे

आपल्या ब्लॉगसाठी सर्वोत्तम टेम्प्लेट कशी निवडावी?

- यासाठी ३क रुल लक्षात ठेवा. म्हणजेच कलर, कॉलम्स आणि कस्टमर. या तीन "क' चा विचार करुनच आपली टेम्प्लेट निवडा.

- जर तुम्ही अ‍ॅडसेन्स (जाहीराती) आणि इतर गॅजेट्स वापरणार असाल तर ३ कॉलम्स असलेली टेम्प्लेट वापरा.त्यामुळे तुमच्या ब्लॉग प्रोफेशनल वाटेल.

- जर ब्लॉग साधा आणि सोपा दिसावा असे वाटत असेल तर २ कॉलम्स असलेली टेम्प्लेट निवडा.

- पण १ कॉलम किंवा ४ कॉलम्स असलेली टेम्प्लेट शक्यतो निवडु नका.एका कॉलम मुळे ब्लॉग अगदीच साधा दीसेल आणि चार कॉलम्समुळे ब्लॉग एकदम किचकट दीसेल.

आता तुम्हाला टेम्प्लेट्स बद्दल बर्‍यापैकी माहीती झालेली आहे असे गृहीत धरुन, ब्लॉग टेम्प्लेट कशी बदलावी याबद्दल सांगतो.

1. पहील्यांदा तुम्हाला आवडलेली टेम्प्लेट इंटरनेटवरुन संगणकामध्ये डाउनलोड करुन घ्या.

2. डाउनलोड केलेली टेम्प्लेट .xml प्रकारची असेल. जर ती rar किंवा .zip प्रकारची असेल तर त्यातुन .xml
फाइल वेगळी काढुन घ्या ( extract it to a folder, so that you can access .xml file in it)

3. आता ब्लॉगर्.कॉम वर जाउन लॉग्-इन करा.

4. आणि Layout > Edit HTML वर क्लिक करा

5. येथे browse and upload चा पर्याय दीसेल. (चित्र पहा)
6. Browse बटणाच्या सहाय्याने संगणकात जेथे टेम्प्लेट डाउनलोड केलेली आहे तेथे जाउन .xml फाइल
सीलेक्ट करा

7. आता Save बटण दाबुन तुम्ही केलेले बदल सीलेक्ट करा.


आता तुमचा ब्लॉग तुमच्या आवडत्या टेम्प्लेटने सजलेला दीसेल. Enjoy blogging.

To start with, I had selected "How to change blogger templates?" as a topic for first article. What is blog template?

A wikipedia definition- A blog template is a tool used to separate content from presentation in web design, and for mass-production of web documents. It is a basic component of a web template system. Blog templates can be used to set up any type of Blog. In its simplest sense, a web template operates similarly to a form letter for use in setting up a website.

Blogger by default gives us a limited choice of default templates. This templates are known as "Classic templates" too. Classic templates comes with basic functionalities and pro-bloggers normally don't like to select classic template as it does not distinguish your blog from others. But still if you like one of the classic blog template, here is how you can use it. 1. Log in to your blogger.com account 2. On the dashboard you can see an option of "Layout". Click on it. 3. In layout menu four sub menus will appear - Page Elements , Fonts and Colors, Edit HTML and choose new template 4. Click on "Choose new template" 5. Here you can see all available options of classic templates. 6. Select your favourite classic template and then click on "Save template" button. 7. Now you can see the new template applied to your blog. Let's come to the more interesting part of working with templates. Here we will see how a new template can be imported to blogger blog. Before going to the process of changing blogger templates, let us first find answers for following question - Why do you need a different blogger template? - The answer is simple, I want my blog to look different and I want blog design to reflect the character of my blog. Also I want to add few advance functionalities and improve look and feel of my blog What are the different types of blogger templates? - There are various types of blog templates available. Normally, blog templates are classified on the basis of colors used, colomns used in templates , different widths of templates and designs. If you will ask me, the basic criteria of classifying templates is the number of coloumns used in templates. Where can I find blogger templates? You will find lot of websites and blogs offering free blog templates on internet. You just have to google for it. I am giving a list of my top five blogger template resources on internet. -Mashable's Top 70 blogger templates -http://www.eblogtemplates.com/ -Templates4all -FreeTemplates -http://btemplates.com/ How can I select one that best suits my blog? - The key is to use 3C rule. Select a color scheme that matches best with the content,character and customers (readers) of the blog. - You can select a 3 coloumn blog if you want to use adsense and ither fancy gadgets on your blog. Use of three colomn template also gives a professional look to your blog. - If you want to keep it simple and plain then use 2 colomn template. - I will suggest you not to opt for 1 colomn or 4 colomn templates. As they will give a too plain or too cluttered look to your blog. Now you must have got a good idea about templates and I know you are eager to change template of your blog. 1. First select the template from internet and download it to your computer. 2. The downloaded template will be in .xml format. If it is .rar or .zip file then extract it to a folder, so that you can access .xml file in it. 3. Again go to blogger.com and sign in. 4. Click on Layout > Edit HTML 5. Here you will find an option to browse and upload template from your hard drive. 6. Browse to the location in your computer and upload a .xml template file. 7. Save your new template and visit blog. जीमेल टीप्स (Gmail Tips)

जीमेल ही जगातील सर्वात पॉप्युलर इ-मेल सर्वीस आहे यात काहीच वाद नाही. जीमेल नेहमीच इतरांच्या (अगदी युजर्सच्याही) दोन पावले पुढेच असते. नुकताच जीमेलच्या दोन सॉलीड सुविधांबद्दल मला माहीती झाली आणि त्यानंतर तर मी जीमेलकर्त्यांचा फॅन झालोय. गूगल काकांच्या क्रीएटीव्हीटीला सलाम. Multiple Gmail addresses ( एक नव्हे अनेक इ-मेल अ‍ॅड्रेसेस) - तुम्ही ज्या नावाने (username) जीमेलसाठी रजीस्ट्रेशन करता ते नाव फक्त आणि फक्त तुमच्यासाठीच असते. मग कोणी अगदी तसाच इ-मेल अ‍ॅड्रेस कॅपीटल किंवा स्मॉल लेटर्स वापरुन रजीस्टर करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला, तरी गुगल तसे करु देणार नाही. एवढेच काय अगदी तुम्ही रजीस्टर केलेल्या नावामध्ये (Username) कोठेही बिंदु (DOT) देउन जीमेलवर दुसरा कोणीही रजीस्ट्रेशन करु शकत नाही. उदाहरणार्थ - तुमचा इ-मेल आयडी myname@gmail.com असा असल्यास कोणीही my.name@gmail.com किंवा my.na.me@gmail.com असा इमेल पत्ता रजीस्टर करु शकत नाही. आणि कोणी चुकुन तुमच्या इमेल पत्त्यामध्ये एखादा डॉट टाकलाच किंवा स्मॉल्/कॅपीटलची गडबड केली तरीही तो इमेल तुम्हालाच मिळेल. तुम्ही देखील मध्ये डॉट्स टाकुन हवे तेवढे इमेल पत्ते बनवु शकता.

Gmail allows only one registration for any given username. Once you sign up for a particular username, any dot or capitalization variations are made permanently unavailable for new registration. If you created myname@gmail.com, no one can ever register my.name@gmail.com, or my.na.me@gmail.com. Furthermore, because Gmail doesn't recognize dots as characters within usernames, adding or removing dots from a Gmail address won't change the actual destination address. Messages sent to myname@gmail.com, my.name@gmail.com, my.na.me@gmail.com and even m.y.n.a.m.e@gmail.com are all delivered to your inbox, and only yours. This feature offers two benefits – 1. You can use any dot variation of your email id , if you do not wish to revel your original email address. And then can put a label for each variant to control messages received on that address. 2. If a sender by mistake adds a dot somewhere in the address, it will still be delivered to the intended recipient.

Gmail Aliases (जीमेल अलायस) –(अलायस Aliases साठी मला मराठी शब्द देता आला नाही त्याबद्दल क्षमस्व) जवळपास प्रत्येक वेब-साइटवर रजीस्ट्रेशन करीता इमेल पत्ता देणे भाग असते. अशावेळेस जीमेल अलायस ही सुविधा अतीशय उपयुक्त ठरते. समजा तुमचा इमेल पत्ता myname@gmail.com असा आहे आणि तुम्हाला xyz.com नावाच्या साईटवर रजीस्टर करायचे आहे, अशावेळेस तुम्ही myname+xyz@gmail.com असा पत्ता देउन रजीस्टर करु शकता. असे पाहीजे तीतके इमेल अलायस बनवता येतात. जितके अलायस बनवाल तीतके तुमचे इमेल पत्ते ! अशा प्रकारे अलायस वापरुन तुम्हाला इमेल्सला फिल्टर्स लावता येतात आणि प्रत्येक इमेलला विषयवार किंवा प्रेषकानुसार (Sender) मांडता येते. मला माहीत आहे तुमचा अजुन विश्वास नाही ते. करुन पहा म्हणजे बसेल विश्वास.

Then you can register using following email id- Myname+xyz@gmail.com This feature allows you to create and remember as many aliases as you can. You can set up filters to automatically direct these messages to Trash, apply a label or star, skip the inbox, or forward to another email account. ( For security reasons, when you log in to Gmail, you must enter any dots that were originally defined as part of your username.) I know you still don’t believe this. Try yourself as I did :-)

Compose search queries in indic languages असे शिर्षक असणारी नवीन विंडो उघडेल. येथे बर्‍याच भारतीय भाषांचा पर्याय उपलब्ध असेल त्यापैकी तुम्हाला हवी असणारी भाषा निवडा (साहजीकच मराठी !) ५. बाजुला Add to google असे बटण दीसेल, त्यावर क्लिक करा. iGoogle असे लिहिलेली विंडो उघडेल, पुन्हा Add to google असे बटण दीसेल त्यावर क्लिक करा.

६. आता तुम्ही आपोआप तुमच्या गुगल होमपेज (घरचे पान!) वर वळवले जाल आणि तेथे मराठी on-screen keyboard दीसेल. ७. चौकोनी आकारामध्ये मराठीतील सर्व अक्षरे लिहिलेली दिसतील, माउसच्या सहाय्याने अक्षर सीलेक्ट केल्यास त्या अक्षराची पुर्ण बाराखडी देखील दीसेल. एकुणच मराठीतील सर्व अक्षरे आता तुमच्या स्क्रीनवर दीसतील आणि फक्त अक्षरा>वर क्लिक करुन पुर्ण शोध शब्द गुगलच्या शोध रकान्यात लिहिता येइल. मराठी on screen keyboard च्या सहाय्याने मराठीतुन शोध घ्या आणि मग पहा इंटरनेटच्या महाजालावर किती मराठी ज्ञान लपलेले आहे ते !

Keyboard short cuts for Microsoft Word

की बोर्ड शॉर्टकट्स - मायक्रोसॉफ्ट वर्ड आपण आधीच्या लेखांमध्ये संगणकावर तसेच मायक्रोसॉफ्ट एक्सेलमध्ये काम करताना उपयोगी ठरणारे शॉर्टकट्स पाहीले. आज आपण पाहणार आहोत मायक्रोसॉफ्ट वर्ड मध्ये सहजगत्या काम करण्यासाठी आवश्यक असणारे काही शॉर्टकट्स. आधीच्या लेखांप्रमाणेच काही निवडक आणि सहसा कोणाला माहीत नसलेलेच शॉर्टकट्स आपण येथे पाहणार आहोत.

1. एखाद्या मोठ्या वर्ड डॉक्युमेंटमध्ये काम करताना जर सर्वात पहील्या ओळीवर अथवा सर्वात शेवटच्या ओळीवर जायचे असेल तर अनुक्रमे ctrl + Home आणि ctrl + End दाबावे.
2. लिहिलेल्या मजकुराला अधोरेखीत (Underline) करायचे असल्यास ctrl + U दाबावे हे आपल्याला माहीत असेलच पण जर त्याच मजकुरास दोनदा अधोरेखीत (Double underline) करायचे असेल तर त्या मजकुरास सीलेक्ट करुन Ctrl + Shift + D दाबावे.
3. मजकुराची मुद्देसूद मांडणी करताना बुलेटींग करावे लागते. अशा वेळेस सर्व मुद्दे एकाखाली एक असे मांडुन घ्यावेत आणि मग त्यांना एकत्र सीलेक्ट करुन Ctrl + Shift + L एकत्र दाबावे.
4. कधी एखादा कॅपीटल मधील मजकुर स्मॉल लेटर्स मध्ये किंवा स्मॉल लेटर्स मधील मजकुर कॅपीटल मध्ये बदलावा लागतो. यासाठी आधी तो मजकुर सीलेक्ट करुन मग Shift+F3 दाबावे. - Shift+F3 एकदा दाबल्यावर सर्व मजकुर कॅपीटल मध्ये रुपांतरीत होतो - Shift+F3 दुसर्‍यांदा दाबल्यावर सर्व मजकुर स्मॉल मध्ये रुपांतरीत होतो - Shift+F3 तीसर्‍यांदा दाबल्यावर सर्व शब्दांचे पहीले अक्षर कॅपीटल मध्ये आणि इतर सर्व अक्षरे स्मॉल मध्ये रुपांतरीत होतात.
5. मायक्रोसॉफ्ट एक्सेल प्रमाणेच वर्ड मध्ये देखील कॉलम्स लपलेले असतात. वर्ड मधील कॉलम सीलेक्ट करायचा असेल तर Alt बटण दाबुन ठेवावे आणि सोबत माउसच्या डाव्या बटणाच्या सहाय्याने ड्रॅग करावे.

अजुन खुप शॉर्टकट्स आहेत. नंतर सवडीने सांगेन पण त्याआधी आजच्या लेखातील शॉर्टकट्सचा सराव करायला घ्या.

In our earlier "Keyboard short cuts series" we have learned about shortcuts to speed up your work on PC and microsoft excel. Today we are going to have alook at some keyboard short cuts for wroking smartly on microsoft word.

Simillar to earlier articles, even in this articles we shall talk about some selected and less known shortcuts.

1. While working on a lenghty word document if you want to navigate to extreme ends (Start and end) of documents then use ctrl + Home and ctrl + End respectivly.
2. We all know that using ctrl + U shortcut, selected matter can be underlined. But if you want to double underline the content of a document then simply select the area and press Ctrl + Shift + D.
3. For applying list bullets to a particular matter, write all points first. Then select all points and press Ctrl + Shift + L simultaneously.
4. To convert content from CAPITAL to SMALL letters or vice versa use a key combination of Shift+F3 Shift+F3 when pressed once - CONVERTS ALL LETTERS TO CAPITAL Shift+F3 when pressed twice - converts all letters to small Shift+F3 when pressed thrice - Converts Starting Letters Of All Words To Capital And All Other Letters To Small
5. Do you know like in excel colmns are also present in microsoft word. To select colomns in Microsoft words, keep Alt button pressed and drag with mouse.

आपण इंटरनेटवर बर्‍याच प्रकारे संवाद साधत असतो. त्यासाठी आपण इमेल,प्रेझेंटेशन्स, चित्रे, ईंस्टंट मेसेंजर, ब्लॉग्स, मोव्ही क्लिप्स इत्यादी अनेक प्रकार वापरतो. पण इतकी सगळी साधने हाताशी असताना देखील कधी तुम्हाला पेन आणि पेपरची उणीव जाणवली आहे का? कधी असे वाटले आहे की इंटरनेटवर एखाद्याशी संवाद साधताना अगदी कागदावर लिहुन अथवा चित्रे काढुन दाखवले असते तर किती सोपे झाले असते. आणि तुम्हाला कधी असे वाटले असेल तर आजचा लेख तुमच्यासाठी आहे.

The "NEWS" program on doordarshan (Hope you know this TV channel) was used to be the Top TRP program in good old days. And at the end of NEWS , they used to tell weather report, maximum and minimum temperatures of four metro cities of India. My curious mind always used to wonder why they are telling us about temperatures and what I am going to do with advance information of wether it will rain today or not. (I was a child ! happy little child). My father explained me once that this info is important for farmers, fishermen and travellers. But still, I was not convinced. That info was really useless for me. Do you know why I am telling all this to you? Because I recently found a web application which gives us simillar info in a useful way. This webapp doesn't stop only at information stage, it helps (and reminds too) users to actually use that.
