काही दीवसांपुर्वी मी एका लेखामध्ये वाचले होते की जगभरातील इंटरनेट मजकुरापैकी ९०% मजकुर हा इंग्लीश भाषेमध्ये आहे. म्हणजे थोडक्यात ईंटरनेटवरील ज्ञानावर फक्त इंग्रजी भाषा येणार्‍यांचाच हक्क आहे असे म्हणणे वावगे होणार नाही. (मला हे बिलकुल मान्य नाही म्हणुनच मोठ्या प्रयत्नाने मी मराठी आणि इंग्लीश या दोनही भाषांमधुन लिखाण करत असतो.) माझ्याप्रमाणेच गुगल काकांनाही हे मान्य नाही म्हणुनच गुगल काकांनी एक अप्रतीम सुविधा जगभरच्या नॉन्-इंग्लीश भाषीकांसाठी उपलब्ध करुन दीली आहे. सध्या प्रायोगीक तत्त्वावर सुरु करण्यात आलेल्या या सुविधेचं नाव आहे गुगल ट्रान्सलेशन टुलकीट (Google translation toolkit).

गुगल ट्रान्सलेशनची सुविधा यापुर्वीही गुगलच्या होमपेजवर उपलब्ध होती मात्र त्यामध्ये बर्‍याच सुधारणा करुन ट्रान्सलेशन टुलकीट सुरु करण्यात आले आहे. उदाहरणार्थ यापुर्वीच्या ट्रान्सलेशनमध्ये उपलब्ध नसलेल्या या काही सुविधा ट्रान्सलेशन टुलकीट मध्ये उपल्ब्ध आहेत.

1. यामध्ये संगणकावरील फाइल्स तसेच पुर्ण वेबसाईट भाषांतरीत करता येते. एवढेच नव्हे तर विकिपेडीया किंवा नॉल (Knol - वीकीपेडीयाला मात देण्यासाठी गुगलने सुरु केलेला उपक्रम. मात्र Knol फारसे यशस्वी झालेले नाही) या साईट्सवरील लेख देखील पुर्णपणे भाषांतरीत करता येतात.
2. भाषांतरीत केलेला मजकुर संपादीत करता येतो (Edit)
3. भाषांतरीत केलेला मजकुर पाहण्यासाठी तसेच त्यामध्ये बदल करण्यासाठी इतरांना आमंत्रीत करता येते.
4. भाषांतरीत केलेल्या फाइल्स संगणकावर आणि ऑनलाइन सेव्ह करता येतात.

Google Translation Toolkit कसे वापरावे?

1. Google Translation Toolkit (गुगल ट्रान्सलेटर टुलकिट) वर आपल्या गुगल अकाउंटच्या सहाय्याने लॉग्-इन करा.
2. त्यानंतर नाव, तुम्ही राहत असलेला देश आणि तेथील वेळ निवडा.

3. आता गुगल ट्रान्सलेटर टुलकिट च्या मुख्य पानावर तुम्ही याल. तेथे अपलोड बटणावर क्लिक करुन भाषांतरीत करावयाची फाइल संगणकामधुन निवडा किंवा एखादे वेबपेज भाषांतरीत करायचे असल्यास त्याची URL लिहा.

4. कोणत्या भाषेतुन आणि कोणत्या भाषेत भाषांतर करायचे आहे ते ठरवा

5. Upload Document for translation वर क्लिक करा.
खाली चित्रात दाखवील्याप्रमाणे दोन भागांमध्ये भाषांतर दीसुन येइल. पहील्या भागात मुळ पान तर दुसर्‍या भागात भाषांतरीत पान दीसेल.

गुगल ट्रान्सलेटर टुलकिट मध्ये मराठीचा समावेश केलेला आहे हे पाहुन मी प्रचंड खुष झालो होतो. परंतु मराठीत भाषांतराचा प्रयत्न करुन पाहील्यावर निराश झालो कारण येथे मराठीत भाषांतर झालेच नाही. त्यानंतर हिंदीचा प्रयत्न केला तो सफल झाला.

अजुनही गुगल ट्रान्सलेटर टुलकिटवर बरेच काम व्हायचे आहे. हिंदीमध्ये केलेला अनुवाद जुजबी माहीती पुरवीण्यासाठी उपयोगी असला तरी पुर्ण वाक्यांचा अर्थ मात्र लागत नव्हता.

मला खात्री आहे की गुगल काकांचा हा प्रयत्न नक्कीच यशस्वी होइल आणि ज्ञानाची कवाडे सर्वांसाठी खुली होतील.

Blind painter from Turkey - Esref Armagan

काल टीव्हीवर एका हिंदी चित्रपटाची जाहीरात पाहीली. चित्रपटाचे नाव आहे "Shadow" (शॅडो). या चित्रपटाची खासीयत म्हणजे चित्रपटाचा नायक अंध आहे. चित्रपटात नव्हे तर खरोखर अंध आहे. ती जाहीरात पाहुन अशाच एका प्रतीभावान अंध व्यक्तीची मला आठवण झाली. त्या व्यक्तीचे नाव आहे एस्रेफ अर्मागन (Esref Armagan). एस्रेफ अर्मागन हे जन्मापासुन अंध असलेले एक चित्रकार आहेत. होय चित्रकार. एक असा चित्रकार जो काहीच पाहु शकत नाही आणि तरीही चित्रे काढतो आणि रंगवतो देखील. एस्रेफ यांच्याबद्दल डीस्कवरी वाहीनीवर एक कार्यक्रम मी पाहीला होता. त्यांच्याबद्दल इंटरनेटवर शोध घेतला आणि अधीक माहीती मिळवली. नेटभेटच्या वाचकांशी या असामान्य अद्भुत व्यक्तीमत्वाची ओळख करुन देत आहे.

एस्रेफ अर्मागन हे मुळचे टर्की या देशाचे नागरीक आहेत. जन्मापासुनच दोनही डोळ्यांनी अंध असलेल्या अर्मागन यांना बालपणी कसलेही प्रशीक्षण मिळाले नाही. मात्र त्यांनी स्वतः प्रयत्न करुन लिहिण्याची आणि चित्रे काढण्याची कला अवगत केली. अर्मागन हे ब्रशचा वापर न करता बोटांनी चित्रे रंगवतात. यासाठी ते ऑइल पेंटचा वापर करतात. गेली ३५ वर्षे ते हा कलाविष्कार साकारताहेत.

ब्रेल स्टायलसचा वापर करुन ते आधी चित्र काढतात आणि मग रंगांमध्ये बोटे बुडवुन त्या चित्रात रंग भरतात. पोट्रेट्स किंवा निसर्गचित्र काढण्याची एक वेगळी पद्धत त्यांनी विकसीत केली आहे. एखाद्या डोळस चित्रकाराकडुन ते आधी चित्र काढुन घेतात आणि ते चित्र उलट करुन त्यावर उमटलेल्या रेषांवर डावा हात फिरवुन चित्राची संकल्पना मनात साठवतात. आणि मग स्वतः तसेच चित्र काढुन रंगवतात.

Create twitter like logo !

याआधीच्या माझ्या लेखामध्ये मी गुगलसारखा लोगो बनविण्याच्या संदर्भात बोललो होतो. तो लेख लिहित असतानाच मला ट्वीटलोगो.कॉम "twitlogo.com" ही साईट सापडली. नावात लिहिल्याप्रमाणे ही वेबसाईट ट्वीटरच्या लोगोसारखा लोगो बनवुन देते.

1. ट्वीटलोगो.कॉमवर जा ("twitlogo.com")
2. चित्रात दाखवील्याप्रमाणे दीलेल्या रकान्यात आपले नाव / ब्लॉगचे नाव लिहा.
3. advance options वर क्लिक करुन फाँट्सचा आकार, रंग आणि किनारीचा रंग (Border color) निवडा.
4. "Make" बटणावर क्लिक करा.

आता तुमचा ट्वीटरलोगो तयार झालेला असेल. download this image या लिंकवर क्लिक करुन तो लोगो संगणकावर सेव्ह करुन घ्या.

In my last article I talked about creating google like logo's. I was reasearching on net for the same topic and there I came across this awesome site "twitlogo.com"

As name suggest, this site does one simple thing. It helps you to generate logos that resembles twitter logo style.

1. Go to twitlogo.com
2. Enter your text in the box as shown in image
3. Click on advance options to select font size, font color and outline color
4. Click on "make" button.

Now your twitterlike logo will be generated. Click on download this image and save it to your PC.

Fun with Google Uncle !

My friends who are regular readers of Netbhet (Because they have subscribed !) always push me for writing something on the lighter side. Actually I am not a writer at heart hence I always feel that writing such lighter content is not my cup of tea. But to honor my friend's request I have decided to attempt. And that's why today's topic is "Fun with Google"

1. Write your name (Or blog's heading as I did !) in Google typo style -

Go to googlefont.com

Type your NAME or the text that you want to Googlaise.

Hit "Creat Logo"

Click on "Download logo" link.

2. Create a Google homepage with your name.

Go to namegoogle.com

Click on "change logo"Write your name or any text and hit enter. Now a Google homepage with your name will be displayed.

Click on "make this homepage" as shown in image.

3. Magic with Google

Go to http://darkartsmedia.com/Google.html .

This page looks exactly like Google.

Show the screen to your friends.

Now hide two 'O's in the Google logo with your fingers and click once anywhere on the page.

Wait a bit and remove your fingers.

Your friends will be surprised to see that two "O"s are missing from the logo.

Now ask your friend to keep fingers on missing "O"sAgain click once anywhere on the page.

After your friend removes the fingers, the logo will be complete again.

A third click, by the way, will change the page to an actual Google homepage. Your friend's can only keep on guessing what happened to the logo.

Google Docs - Create files in the sky !

मला नेहमी वाटायचे की गुगल किंवा अ‍ॅपल किंवा आणखी कुणी कीतीही प्रगती करोत, मायक्रोसॉफ्टला मागे टाकु शकत नाहीत. मला असे वाटण्याचे कारण म्हणजे मायक्रोसॉफ्टचा हुकुमाचा एक्का "मायक्रोसॉफ्ट ऑफीस". कंप्युटर शिकायला सुरुवात होते तीच मुळी मायकोसॉफ्ट ऑफीसच्या वर्ड , एक्सेल आणि पॉवरपॉइंट या सॉफ्टवेअर्सपासुन. मायक्रोसॉफ्ट ऑफीस आता अंगात असे भिनलय की दुसरे कोणते ऑफीस अप्लिकेशन वापरावेसे वाटतच नाही. (बरेच मोफत ऑफीस अप्लिकेशन्स मिळतात बाजारात मात्र आपण पैसे देउन मायक्रोसॉफ्टच विकत घेतो!).

परंतु आता मात्र मला असे वाटत नाही. मायक्रोसॉफ्टच्या या हुकुमाच्या एक्क्याला मात देण्यासाठी गुगलकाकांनी गुगल डॉक्स (Google docs) बाजारात आणलं आहे. तसे गुगल डॉक्सचा जन्म होउन तीन वर्षे झाली आहेत पण बाळाने नुकताच रांगायला सुरुवात केली आहे.

गुगल डॉक्सच्या सहाय्याने वर्ड डॉक्युमेंट्स, स्प्रेडशीट्स (मायक्रोसॉफ्ट एक्सेल सारखा प्रकार) आणि प्रेझेंटेशन्स बनवता येतात. मायक्रोसॉफ्ट ऑफीस वापरता येतं अशा प्रत्येकाला गुगल डॉक्स सहजपणे वापरता येते. आपल्या ओळखीचे bold, underline आणि italics सारखी टुलबारवरील बटणे गुगल डॉक्सनेही वापरली आहेत. त्यामुळे आपण काही नवे सॉफ्टवेअर वापरत आहोत हे कळत देखील नाही.

मायक्रोसॉफ्ट एक्सेल प्रमाणेच गुगलच्या स्प्रेडशीट मध्ये फॉर्म्युलेज, फंक्शन्स , चार्टस, कमेंट्स , टेबल्स अगदी सहजगत्या वापरता येतात. एवढेच नव्हे गुगल डॉक्स मध्ये सेव्ह केलेल्या फाइल्स वेगवेगळ्या फोल्डर्समध्ये सेव्ह करुन ठेवता येतात.

गुगल डॉक्स वापरण्याचे फायदे -

१. गुगलच्या इतर प्रॉडक्ट्स प्रमाणे गुगल डॉक्स पुर्णपणे मोफत आहे.

२. गुगल डॉक्स वापरण्यासाठी कोणतेही सॉफ्टवेअर डाउनलोड करण्याची गरज नाही. गुगल डॉक्स ऑनलाइन वापरता येते. हव्यात त्या फक्त तीनंच गोष्टी - कंप्युटर, ईंटरनेट आणि गुगल अकाउंट आयडी.

३. गुगल डॉक्स मध्ये बनवीलेल्या फाइल्स ऑनलाईनच सेव्ह करता येतात. म्हणजे अतीरीक्त हार्ड डीस्क स्पेसची आवश्यकता नाही.

४. गुगल डॉक्स हे कोलॅबरेटीव्ह अप्लिकेशन आहे. म्हणजेच एका वेळेला एका पेक्षा जास्त व्यक्ती एकाच डॉक्युमेंटवर काम करु शकतात.

५. गुगल डॉक्स मुळे भरपुर वेळ वाचतो. नेहमीप्रमाणे एखादी फाइल बनवुन आपण इतरांना इमेल करतो आणि त्यावर त्यांच्या प्रतीसादांची वाट पाहतो. सगळ्यांकडे मग त्या फाइलची एक कॉपी बनते आणि प्रत्येकाने त्यामध्ये केलेले बदल हे इतरांना इमेल करेपर्यंत त्याच फाइलच्या अनेक कॉपीज सर्वत्र फीरत राहतात. या वेळखाउ पध्दतीपासुन गुगल डॉक्स आपली मुक्ती करते. एकच फाइल बनवुन ती ऑनलाइन ठेवुन सर्वांना त्यामध्ये बदल करण्यासाठी आमंत्रीत करता येते. अशाप्रकारे प्रत्येक जण एकाच फाइलवर काम करतो आणि इतरांनी केलेल बदल कोणासही इमेल न करता कळवता येतात.

६. कोणत्याही प्रकारचा बॅकअप घेण्याची आवश्यकता नसते. संगणकामध्ये काही बिघाड झाल्यास आपले सर्व डॉक्युमेंट्स कायमचे डीलीट होण्याचा धोका असतो मात्र गुगलच्या सर्वरवर डॉक्युमेंट्स असणे म्हणजे जगातील सर्वात सुरक्षीत ठीकाणी असणे असेच आहे.

७. गुगल डॉक्स ऑनलाईन उपलब्ध असल्याने जगात कोठेही असलात तरी तुमचे सर्व डोक्युमेंट्स पाहता/ वापरता येतात. म्हणजे थोडक्यात तुमचा संगणकच तुमच्या बरोबर असतो.

८. गुगल डॉक्स ही सर्व बीझनेस मोबाइल्स आणि स्मार्टफोन्सवर पुर्णतया म्हणजे सर्व फंक्शन्ससहीत काम करणारी एकमेव ऑनलाईन डॉक्युमेंट सर्वीस आहे.

मी नेटभेटच्या सर्व वाचकांना सल्ला देइन की गुगल डॉक्स जरुर वापरा. किमान महत्त्वाच्या फाइल्स सेव्ह करण्यासाठी तरी नक्की वापरा. आणि निर्धास्त होउन कंप्युटींगचा आनंद घ्या.

President of India launches Helpline Portal

राष्ट्रपती प्रतीभा पाटील यांच्यातर्फे भारतीय नागरीकांच्या तक्रार निवारणासाठी एक वेबपोर्टल नुकताच सुरु करण्यात आले. नागरीक येथे आपल्या सुचना व तक्रारी नोंदवु शकतात तसेच विविध खात्यांतर्फे त्या तक्रारींवर केलेल्या उपाय्योजनांचा आढावा घेउ शकतात.

help-line.rb.nic.in या पोर्टलवर नोंदण्यात आलेल्या तक्रारी त्या त्या खात्यांकडे सात दीवसांच्या आत पाठवण्यात येतील. राष्ट्रपतींच्या ऑफीसमध्ये दररोज सुमारे ४०० तक्रारी नोंदवल्या जातात. परंतु त्या तक्रारींचे पुढे काय होते हे मात्र तक्रारदारांना कळत नव्हते. आता या पोर्टलद्वारे नागरीकांना आपल्या तक्रारींवर किती काम झाले आहे ते ऑनलाईन पाहता येइल. सामान्य नागरीकांचे प्रश्न सोडवीण्यासाठी राष्ट्रपतींनी तंत्रज्ञानाचा वापर केला ही नीश्चीतच स्वागतपर बाब आहे.

President Pratibha Patil launched a helpline portal that will not only allow citizens to register their grievances online but track them to various ministries as well. The portal will allow people to petition the President directly.

The portal — help-line.rb.nic.in — promises to process petitions and direct them to relevant departments within seven working days.

"This portal is the beginning of a new chapter in Rashtrapati Bhavan. We receive an average 400 petitions per day from people. We have set up this portal so that people have a mechanism by which they know what is happening to their petition," said Christy Fernandez, secretary to the President.

It is a step towards coming closer to the 'Common Man' with the help of technology.

Most inspirational Video ever!

आज रविवारी मी हा लेख लिहितोय. उद्या सोमवार आहे आणि एका दीवसाच्या सुट्टीनंतर उद्या ऑफीसला जाण्याचा खुपच कंटाळा आला आहे. उद्या पुन्हा रडत्-खडत उठायचं आणि पाय ओढत ऑफीसला जायचं . नेहमीचंच झालय हे.

खरचं आपण कितीतरी कामे अशी पाय ओढत आणि रडत्-खडतच करत असतो. पण याउलट जर आपण रोज नव्या जोशाने आणि प्ररणेने आपली कामे करु लागलो तर? आपल्या आवडीचे काम मिळाले नसेल कदाचित पण मिळालेले काम आवडीने करत गेलो तर यश मिळणार हे नक्की!

परंतु मनाजोगतं काहीच घडत नसताना आणि सगळीकडुन संकटांचा मारा होत असताना नवा जोश आणि प्रेरणा आणायची कोठुन? माझ्या मते, यशस्वी आणि महान समजल्या गेलेल्या जाणार्‍या सर्व व्यक्तींमध्ये एक गुण समान होता तो म्हणजे त्यांची स्वयंप्रेरणेने (Self motivation) काम करण्याची इच्छाशक्ती. अर्थात हा गुण प्रत्येकात असतोच असे नाही.मग आपल्यासारख्या पामरांनी काय करावे बरे? मित्रहो, मी आज तुम्हाला याबाबतचा माझा एक उपाय सांगणार आहे.

दोन वर्षांपुर्वी मी एका सेल्स ट्रेनींगमध्ये एक स्फुर्तीदायी व्हीडीओ (Motivational Video) पाहीला होता. मी आतापर्यंत पाहीलेल्या सर्वोत्तम व्हीडीओ क्लिप्स पैकी एक असा हा व्हीडीओ खरचं खुप प्रेरणात्मक आणि स्फुर्तीदायी आहे. जेव्हा जेव्हा मी निराशेने ग्रासलेला असतो तेव्हा हा व्हीडीओ आवर्जुन पाहतो. माझ्यासाठी प्रेरणादायी ठरलेला हा व्हीडीओ तुम्हासही नक्कीच भावेल ही अपेक्षा.

वयाच्या अवघ्या २६ व्या वर्षी कॅन्सरचे निदान झालेला आणि तरीसुद्धा जिद्दीने त्यावर मात करत, टुर्-दे-फ्रान्स (Tour-de-france) या जगातील सर्वात कठीण सायकल शर्यतीत सलग सात वेळा जागतीक विजेतेपद पटकावणारा सायकलपटु लान्स आर्मस्ट्राँग (Lance Armstrong) , ऑलींपीक मधील""परफेक्ट टेन" (पुर्ण १० गुण) चा मान जगात सर्वप्रथम मिळवणारी रोमानीयाची नादीया कॉमानेकी (Nadia Comaneci), लहानपणी धावण्यात सर्वात कमजोर असलेला पण अथक परीश्रमाने ऑलींपीकमध्ये तब्बल १० पदकांची कमाई करणारा धावपटु कार्ल लुईस (Carl Lewis), भारतासाठी विश्वचषक जिंकणारा आणि ३५ जागतीक विक्रम नावावर असणारा क्रीकेटपटु कपील देव, जगातील सर्वात धोकादायक समजल्या जाणार्‍या फॉर्म्युला वन या शर्यतीत सलग सात वेला विजेतेपद पटकावणारा मायकेल शुमाकर (Michael Schumacher) आणि १२८५ गोल्स करणारा, फुटबॉलचा अनभीषीक्त सम्राट पेले (Pele) यांच्यावर चित्रीत करणात आलेला हा व्हीडीओ मी नेहमी आवर्जुन पाहतो.

नेटभेटच्या वाचकांसाठी हा खास व्हीडीओ मी येथे देत आहे. सुमारे पाच मिनिंटांच्या या व्हीडीओचे पार्श्वसंगीतही तीतकेच परीणामकारक आहे.म्हणुनच हा व्हीडीओ पाहताना स्पीकर्स चालु ठेवण्यास विसरु नका.

प्रत्येकाच्या संग्रही असावाच असा हा व्हीडीओ डाउनलोड करायचा असेल तर खाली कमेंटस मध्ये तुमचा इमेल पत्ता (Email Address) द्या. डाउनलोड लिंक मी तुम्हाला इमेलद्वारे पाठवेन.

As a blogger, I always find difficult using images from internet. All "Copyright acts" and "Intellectual property acts" keep on bothering me before downloading and using images from internet.

I am sure that my other blogger friends must also be facing the same issue. Friends, here is a solution for you from NetBhet.

Not all images uploaded on internet are protected under copyrights. Certain images are secured under "Creative commons" which means we can either download such images or use them commercially or can modify and use them commercially. The question is how to find such images and where?

There are two major websites to help us find "Creative commons" images. Google and Flickr (Flickr belongs to Yahoo)

Google Image search -

1. On Google homepage, you will find an Image tab. Click on it and you will enter Image search feature of Google.
2. Now click on advanced image search
3. You will be presented with "advanced image search" . Enter the keyword of your search query in first row of 'Find results' in appropriate field
4. In second last row of 'Usage Rights' select the last one 'labeled for commercial reuse with modification'

5. And hit 'Google search' button.

1. On flickr.com homepage search for your query

2. All images related to search query will be displayed on screen.

3. Click on 'Advanced search'

4. Scroll down to the creative commons section and select all three checkboxes as shown in image. 5. Hit search button.

All results displayed can be used in your blogs commercially.

How to hide formulae from appearing in edit bar of MS Excel?

मायक्रोसॉफ्ट एक्सेल मध्ये फॉर्म्युला इतरांना न दीसण्यासाठी काय करावे?

Microsoft Excel is known for it's capabilities of mathematical calculations. Using excel we can do all complex calculations. But what if you want to hide the logic and formulaes behind the calculations from other users of your Excel worksheet? Here is a solution.

1. Select all rows and columns of the worksheet. ( सर्व ओळी आणि स्तंभ सीलेक्ट करा. Ctrl+A किंवा Select all वापरुन हे करता येइल.)

2. Right Click on any of the cells and select Format cells. (कोणत्याही एका सेलवर राईट क्लिक (माउसवरील उजवे बटण) करा आणि Format cells वर क्लिक करा)

3. Format cell window will appear on screen. Uncheck Lock and check Hidden and click OK. ( फॉर्मॅट सेल्सची खिडकी उघडेल त्यावर Lock च्या पुढे अनचेक करा. म्हणजेच त्यासमोरील √ चिन्ह काढुन टाका आणि Hidden असे लिहिलेल्या चौकोनास चेक करा म्हणजेच त्यासमोर √ चिन्ह आणा)

4. Now come back to the excel worksheet again and select all (Ctrl+A). आता आपल्या एक्सेल वर्कशीटकडे परत या आणि पुन्हा सर्व ओळी आणि स्तंभ सीलेक्ट करा. (Ctrl+A किंवा Select all )

5. Go to Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet ( आता Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet वर क्लिक करा)

6. A "Protect Sheet" window will appear. Ensure that the "Contents" checkbox is checked. The password is optional. Click on the OK button. ( "Protect Sheet" ची खिडकी उघडेल त्यावर "Contents" समोरील चौकोनामध्ये √ चिन्ह आहे याची खात्री करुन घ्या आणि OK बटण दाबा) 7. Now you can start editing worksheet without displaying formulae in formulae bar. (तुम्ही एक्सेलमध्ये लिहिलेला फॉर्म्युला आता फॉर्म्युला बार मध्ये दीसणार नाही.)

(Note - You can hide the formulae from appearing in formulae bar for a specific cell or group of specific cells also. For that you have to select only those cells instead of selecting all cells in step 4 above)

How to add "Pages" on Blogger (Blogspot)?

वर्डप्रेसच्या ब्लॉग्जमध्ये पेजेस म्हणजेच मुख्यपृष्ठ Home, आमच्याबद्दल About Us, संपर्क Contact Us इत्यादी पाने स्वतंत्ररीत्या दाखवीण्याची सोय असते. यामुळे वर्डप्रेसवरील ब्लॉग एखाद्या वेबसाईट प्रमाणे दीसतो. दुर्दैवाने ब्लॉगर म्हणजे ब्लॉग्स्पॉट.कॉम वर बनवलेल्या ब्लॉग्जमध्ये ही सुवीधा नाही आहे. मला यावर एक उपाय सापडलाय.

ब्लॉगरवरील ब्लॉग्ज मध्ये स्वतंत्र पेजेस दाखवीण्याची पद्धत अतीशय सोपी आहे.

१. आधी जे वेब्-पेज प्रकाशीत करायचे आहे त्यावरचा मजकुर एका ब्लॉग पोस्ट मध्ये लिहुन घ्या.

२. आता या ब्लॉग पोस्टची तारीख बदलुन (सर्वात मागची तारीख - ब्लॉग सुरु केला त्या दीवसाची तारीख टाका) , ब्लॉग पोस्ट प्रकाशीत करा.

३. एकदा ब्लॉगला भेट देउन तुम्ही नुकताच प्रकाशीत केलेली पोस्ट पहील्या पानावर आलेली नाही याची खात्री करुन घ्या.

४. आता पुन्हा Dashboard > Edit post वर क्लिक करा.

५. तुम्ही नुकताच प्रकाशीत केलेली ब्लॉग पोस्ट शोधुन तेथे View वर क्लिक करा.

६. ब्लॉग पोस्टची URL कॉपी करुन घ्या.

७. आता Layout मध्ये जाउन Add a Gadget वर क्लिक करा.

८. सर्व गॅजेट्सची यादी दीसेल त्यापैकी Link List हे गॅजेट निवडा.

९. Link List मध्ये "page name" म्हणजेच तुमच्या वेब पेजचे नाव (उदाहरणार्थ - स्वगृह, आमच्याबद्दल, संपर्क इत्यादी) लिहा आणि "page URL" मध्ये तुम्ही कॉपी केलेली URL चिकटवा.

१०. अनुक्रमे Add Link आणि Save बटण दाबा.

अशाप्रकारे तुम्हाला हवी तेवढी वेब्-पेजेस बनवुन आपल्या ब्लॉगवर प्रकाशीत करता येतील.

How to create "Pages" on Blogger (Blogspot)?

One thing that wordpress always boast about is a feature they provide for adding "Pages" to the blog (Home, About Us, Contact us, Subscribe us etc.). Pages gives more professional look of a website to your blog. Unfortunatly this feature is not explicitly provided in Blogger. But yes, there is a solution on this problem of all blogspot blogger.

Adding "pages" in blogger is actually a simple process.

1. Create the page by adding appropriate content in a blog post.

2. Publish the blog with an OLD DATE. (Perhaps the OLDEST date). You can do so by clicking on "Post Options"

3. Visit your blog to ensure that newly published page does not reflect on main page of the blog.

4. Now again go to Dashboard > Edit post

5. Find the blog post that you want to publish as page and click on View.

6. Select and copy URL of this blog post from address bar.

7. Now go to Layout and click on Add a Gadget on sidebar.

8. Select Link list from available gadget.

9. Enter "page name" and corrosponding "page URL" in the link list and then click on Add Link and Save.

10. You can create as many pages as you want and insert links in the same Link list.

Now you have added Pages to your blog and taken a step towards making a professional looking blog/websites.

फार पुर्वी एका महान चित्रकाराकडे दुसरा एक नवशिका चित्रकार चित्रकलेचे धडे घेत होता. चित्रकलेत बर्‍यापैकी पारंगत झाल्यावर या नविन चित्रकाराने आपल्या चित्रकलेच्या गुणांची स्वतःच पारख करण्याचे ठरवले. त्याने ब्रश आणि रंग घेउन एक निसर्गचित्र काढण्यास सुरुवात केली आणि तब्बल ३ दिवसांच्या अथक मेहनतीने एक अतीशय सुंदर निसर्गचित्र बनवीले. Once upon a time there was a painter who had just completed his course under disciplehood of a great painter. This young artist decided to assess his skills of skills so he decided to give his best strokes on the canvass. He took 3 days and painted beautiful scenery. Suddenly an idea flashed in his mind and he decided to display it on a busy street-square of that small town he was resident of. He wanted people's opinion about his caliber and painting skills.. He put his creation at a busy street-crossing. And just down below a board which read– "Gentlemen, I have painted this piece. Since I'm new to this profession I might have committed some mistakes in my strokes etc. Please put a cross wherever you see a mistake." अचानक एक कल्पना त्याच्या डोक्यात आली आणि त्याने ते चित्र त्याच्याच शहरातील एका वर्दळीच्या ठीकाणी लावले.त्याच्या कलागुणांबद्दलची लोकांची मते त्याला जाणुन घ्यायची होती. चित्राच्या शेजारीच त्याने एक फलक लावला ज्यावर लिहिले होते," लोकहो, मी हे चित्र काढले आहे, परंतु मी या क्षेत्रात नविन असल्या कारणाने यात काही चुका असण्याचा संभव आहे. कृपया, जिथे जिथे चुक आढळेल त्या ठीकाणी चित्रावर काठ मारा." While he came back in the evening to collect his painting he was completely shattered to see that whole canvass was filled with Xs (crosses) and some people had even written their comments on the painting. Disheartened and broken completely he ran to his masters place and burst into tears. Sobbing and crying inconsolably he told his master about what happened and showed the pathetic state of his creation which was filled with marks everywhere. Such was the state that colors were not visible, only things one could see were crosses and correction remarks. This young artist was breathing heavily and master heard him saying "I'm useless and if this is what I have learnt to paint I'm not worth becoming a painter. People have rejected me completely.. I feel like dying" सायंकाळी जेव्हा उत्साहाने चित्रकार त्या चौकात परतला तेव्हा ते चित्र पाहुन अतीशय हैराण झाला. त्याचे पुर्ण चित्र लोकांनी वेगवेगळ्या ठीकाणी काठ मारुन भरुन टाकले होते. काही जणांनी तर त्या चित्रावरच विविध सुचना लिहिल्या होत्त्या. या प्रकारामुळे चित्रकार खुप निराश झाला. तो धावत त्याच्या गुरुकडे गेला आणि ओक्साबोक्शी रडू लागला. रडतच त्याने ते चित्र गुरुंना दाखवीले आणि काय घडले त्याची सर्व कथा सांगीतले.तो म्हणाला की," मला असे वाटतेय की मी जे काही शिकलोय त्याचा काहीच फायदा नाहीये. लोकांनी मला पुर्णपणे नाकारलंय. मी कधीच चित्रकार बनु शकणार नाही. मला तर आता जीव द्यावासा वाटतोय." Master smiled and suggested "My Son, I will prove that you are a great artist and have learnt a flawless painting." Young disciple couldn't believe it and said "I have lost faith in me and I don't think I am good enough.. don't make false hopes.." "Do as I say without questioning it.. It WILL work." Master interrupted him. यावर त्याच्या गुरुने त्याला समजावले व म्हणाले. " तु एक महान चित्रकार आहेस. आणि हे मी सिध्द करुन दाखवु शकतो" शिष्याचा यावर विश्वासच नाही बसला. तो म्हणाला," नाही उरुजी, मी स्वःतःवरचा विश्वासच हरवुन बसलो आहे. मला असे वाटत नाही की मी एक चांगला चित्रकार आहे. तुम्ही मला खोटा दीलासा देउ नका." "एक प्रश्नही न विचारता मी जसे सांगतो तसे कर" गुरुजी त्याचे बोलणे मध्येच थांबवत म्हणाले. "Just paint exactly similar painting once again for me and give it to me. Will you do that for your master?.." Master instructed. Young artist reluctantly agreed and two days later early morning he presented a replica of his earlier painting to his master. Master took that gracefully and smiled. "Come with me." master said. They reached the same street-square early morning and displayed the same painting exactly at the same place. Now master took out another board which read – "Gentlemen, I have painted this piece. Since I'm new to this profession I might have committed some mistakes in my strokes etc. I have put a box with colors and brushes just below. Please do a favor. If you see a mistake, kindly pick up the brush and correct it." Master and disciple walked back home. " अगदी असंच चित्र माझ्यासाठी पुन्हा काढ आणि मला आणुन दे" गुरुजी बोलले. हो-नाही म्हणत तो तरुण चित्रकार पुन्हा एकदा तसेच चित्र काढण्यासाठी तयार झाला. दोन दिवसांनंतर त्याने हुबेहुब तसेच चित्र काढुन आपल्या गुरुला दीले. गुरुजीं ते चित्र पाहुन खुष झाले आणि म्हणाले, "चल माझ्याबरोबर" . ते दोघेही पुन्हा त्याच चौकात गेले. गुरुजींनी ते चित्र पुन्हा त्याच ठीकाणी लावले आणि सोबतच एका फलकावर लिहिले, " लोकहो , मी हे चित्र काढले आहे, परंतु मी या क्षेत्रात नविन असल्या कारणाने यात काही चुका असण्याचा संभव आहे. जर तुम्हाला चुक आढळली तर कृपया या ठीकाणी शेजारीच ठेवलेल्या रंगपेटी आणि कुंचल्याच्या सहाय्याने ती सुधारा. मी आपला आभारी राहीन" त्यानंतर ते गुरु शिष्य घरी गेले. They both visited the place same evening. Young painter was surprised to see that actually there was not a single correction done so far. But master wasn't satisfied as yet and he told his disciple "May be one day was too little a time for people to come up with ideas and take out time out of their busy schedules to correct it so let us keep it here for one more day. Tomorrow is Sunday, so we can expect some corrections coming in." Next day again they visited and found painting remained untouched.. They say the painting was kept there for a month for no correction came in! त्याच दीवशी सायंकाळी दोघेही तेथे परत गेले. आपल्या चित्रामध्ये कोणीच काही बदल केलेला नाही हे पाहुन शिष्य थोडा आश्चर्यचकीत झाला. परंतु गुरुजींचे अजुन समाधान झाले नव्हते. ते शिष्याला म्हणाले, " कदाचीत पहीलाच दीवस असल्याने अजुन कोणीही येथे आलेले नसेल. आपण उद्या पुन्हा येउया." दुसर्‍या दीवशीही तसेच घडले. त्या चित्रावर कोणीही काहीही सुधारणा केली नव्हती. एक महीनाभर ते चित्र तेथे ठेवण्यात आले होते. परंतु कोणीच काहीच सुधारणा सुचवीली नाही.

Moral of the Story: It is easier to criticize, but difficult to improve. तात्पर्य - दुसर्‍याला दोष देणे अतीशय सोपे असते मात्र फक्त दोष देण्यापेक्षा तो दोष सुधारणे तेवढेच कठीण असते.

Which is the best search engine? Google, Yahoo or Bing!

I am a die hard fan of Google uncle. For me internet starts with Google and ends with Google. But not many people think so. They still have questions about Google's search capabilities over other search engines. Uptill now this questiones were unanswered. It is so because there is no concrete answer to this. (For me, this question itself is questionable!). Now my friends, you have the opportunity to find your own answer to the question, " Which is the best search engine? Google, Yahoo or Bing!"

Thanks to a site called Blind Search that lets users compare search results from Microsoft's Bing, Google and Yahoo and then vote on the most accurate. Yes, on one single screen it shows search results of these three search engines for your queries in three different coloumns. This site is a fun experiment of Michael Kordahi , who is incidently an employee of Microsoft. (THis site has no relation with Microsoft though!)

Early on after 793 tests most of the users actually prefered Bing results -- 38% voting for Bing 36% for Google 25% for Yahoo.

But by about 7,000 votes Google had taken the lead, 46% for Google 34% for Bing 20% for Yahoo.

And then the blindsearch voting results were removed (No guesses! Google won the race).

But wait, I thought I am being little biased about Google and decided to try it on my own.

In my first five searches Yahoo topped with 4 (I was really worried at this stage !), But after doing 20 different searches Google conquered others with 11 followed by Yahoo with 6.

And then, I started writing this article with confidence!
